Being a parent is no easy task, especially in this high-tech world. Information is only a few finger swipes away and can easily lead to mixed messages. The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) has recognized the strong influence parents and mentors can have on a child’s attitude and behaviors. Talking to your children about substance abuse isn’t easy, but it is crucial. Even an occasional, short talk about it can help guide youth onto a healthier path. In our parent resources section you can find information on commonly used illegal drugs and links to our local and national partners.
The C.O.R.E. Society is an interest group within Collier County middle and high schools to promote healthy living by being substance abuse free. With the main tenants of Character, Outlook, Responsibility, and Excellence, we work with school staff to create future leaders today. A CORE club focuses on in-school campaigns, community service events, hosting guest speakers, and developing friendships with other students.
