Pharmaceutical Take-Back Program- Operation Medicine Cabinet®

IMG_8605is a nationally recognized program created and trademarked by Drug Free Collier to ‘take back’ unwanted household medications.  Since the program’s inception in 2007, we have collected more than 12,000 lbs. of pills for safe disposal in Collier County. By keeping harmful drugs from falling into the wrong hands and providing a responsible alternative for discarding medication, Operation Medicine Cabinet is keeping our kids safe & our environment clean. Volunteers work in conjunction with local law enforcement at bi-annual events to help residents safely dispose of unwanted medication.

Community Awareness Presentations

Lunch & LearnDrug Free Collier reaches thousands of local youth & adults with presentations by national and local experts who provide compelling information on substance abuse, trends and solutions. We also offer ongoing opportunities for local professionals to enhance their skills with seminars to support their work in the field of prevention. As a result of these popular presentations, Drug Free Collier has become the “go-to” organization for the prevention of adolescent substance abuse in Collier County. We are looking for opportunities to partner with individuals or organizations to host an event and/or supply food and beverage for an upcoming event.

MarketingDrug Free Collier continues to educate the public by disseminating prevention materials and resources for parents, educators, and healthcare providers. This requires us to develop and carry out year-round marketing programs that outline our mission, activities, and needs of Drug Free Collier. This includes producing annual reports, pamphlets, flyers, public service ads, website updates and other publicity materials.

Fundraising Committee– Drug Free Collier depends on the generosity of individuals and businesses who want to save lives and turn awareness into action. We are seeking energetic individuals who would like to assist with fundraising activities. Each year, Drug Free Collier holds a successful community awareness fundraising luncheon. This is our only fundraising initiative. We rely on more than 20 volunteers to make the event a success. If you are interested in volunteering your time, please email info@drugfreecollier.org or call (239) 377-0535.

CORE Society CORE - official specs_3_2014_pg2 When our children reach high school, studies show that their risk for substance abuse doubles. The CORE Society can change that! The CORE Society is a student-led movement working to change teen perceptions about drug use in schools throughout Collier County. By empowering students to stand up and say, “Everyone isn’t doing it!” CORE members are having a positive influence on their peers. With regularly scheduled meetings; service projects; and school & community events, these students are encouraging others to make healthy choices.
